Day 68: “At the Red Light”

I think this is officially my first (but hopefully not my last) non-rumination.

As I was sitting at the red light in the town square today, I noticed a bumper sticker on the car in front of me: “TRY NOT TO HATE PEOPLE.”

I kept thinking about the simplicity – and power – of those five words all afternoon, trying to figure out what I wanted to say to explore the idea they expressed (and maybe even try to connect it to a current news story or three).

And then I realized that they don’t need any explanation: they already say everything they need to say.
