Day 81: TBT / Own the Moment – Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand (1980)

At the 1980 Grammy Awards, the legends met for the first (and only) live performance of their beloved duet “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” Each of them previously had released separate solo recordings of the song, which were spliced together by Louisville DJ Gary Guthrie as a farewell gift for his ex-wife. Public response to Guthrie’s virtual duet was so strong that Columbia records brought both artists together to record an official duet version for commercial release, and the rest – as they say – is (music) history.
