I’ve been a fan of Rodin’s work since the first time I saw his sculptures in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Even though this relatively simple sculpture isn’t as well known as some of his other works (such as “The Thinker” and “The Kiss”), it’s still one of my favorites – not only because of its striking depiction of hands, which long have held a kind of fascination for me, but also because of its embodiment of intimacy and trust.
