Day 311: “Don’t Dream It’s Over” – Crowded House (1996)

The last song performed during the last concert of their Farewell to the World concert at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia, on November 24, 1996.

“There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re traveling with me

Hey now, Hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, Hey now
When the world comes in
They come, They come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win”

Day 243: “The Mountain Speaks” – West Virginia Dance Company (2015)

From the West Virginia Dance Company website: “Our 2015-16 season introduces The Mountains Speak, a collaborative project among WV artists telling a decidedly American story. With choreography by Toneta Akers-Toler and Donald Laney, this new work is a reflection upon themes of injustice and perseverance including the strength of women and the role of faith in providing hope. Set to music by fiddle champion Jake Krack and a cappella group Bare Bones and including vocals by WV’s storyteller Adam Booth, The Mountains Speak promises a unique and moving audience experience.”

Day 203: “Perfect” – Pink (2011)

(Disclaimer: There are some sensitive visual images in this video, but they functional as an integral and evocative component of its overall message of survival and redemption.)

“It’s enough
I’ve done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons
I’ve seen you do the same

Oh, pretty, pretty please
Don’t you ever, ever feel
Like you’re less than
Less than perfect”
